NETO/HEAT works cooperatively with Efficiency Vermont, the state’s energy efficiency utility, to help Vermonters lower their energy bills. 

Through the State Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP),Efficiency Vermont  helps NETO program participants switch from electric heat or hot water to a more cost-effective fuel. NETO auditors will also identify other opportunities for people to save energy in their homes, and can provide energy efficient products to reduce energy bills. Most of the costs of these electric efficiency products and services are paid for by Efficiency Vermont and the balance is covered by WAP. That means you reap the benefits from the service immediately.

For Vermonters who have high electric bills but are not participating in the Weatherization Assistance Program, Efficiency Vermont’s electric high use services can help. HEAT works with Efficiency Vermont to provide services similar to those in WAP. The high use program provides incentives for installing energy efficient measures and offers technical assistance to participants.

Efficiency Vermont and NETO/HEAT provide assistance with:

§         the installation of energy efficient light bulbs and fixtures,

§         the installation of water conservation products (showerheads, faucet aerators, water heater jackets and pipe insulation),

§         replacing refrigerators with new more efficient refrigerators

§         replacing electric space or water heating with cost-effective systems
